The purity of safe drinking water on the planet is being degraded by polyfluoroalkyl substances, commonly known as PFAS or Forever Chemicals. These industrial chemicals were developed by 3M to create non-stick cookware, waterproof clothing, fire retardants, stain resistant, consumer and industrial products. In exchange for our convenience and their profits, life shortening health conditions are on the rise. One of the forever chemicals in water supplies is PFOS, a form of PFAS. The EPA determined that no amount of carcinogenic PFOS is safe and set new enforceable regulations at 4 parts per trillion with the goal of 0 parts per trillion.
Protecting water sources everywhere is critical. Leachate facilities must be used for contaminated material. Once detected, Reverse Osmosis filter systems are efficient for removing most PFOS from water.
Bio-Sphere functions as a hand gong on a painted tank surface and a chime chamber with copper pipes on the Reverse Osmosis side. The work calls for preservation of the pure Earth water that has brought forth our existence, and sustains all life on this blue marble.
