1980’s Assemblages & Installations
Two works made in my Loisaida Avenue studio, NYC in 1984 and shown at Arbitrage Gallery (Anita Shapolsky) in Soho, where the video was shot. Hey Joe is not only a reference to Jimi Hendrix song, but the drug boss being busted, and contemporaneously described in the soundtrack that accompanies. The soundtrack was triggered by an “Electric Eye” that was activated by viewers in front of the work. The light switching for Gutted Flash Cash was set up to be random.
